"Following a few games played in the mud and rain in 1924, in which the boys waddled around like a flock of ducks, that after one of the games someone made the remark that the team members are just like a bunch of ducks.  Since the coach at the time was named Drake, someone put the two words together, and for the remainder of time the C.R. Drake coached the Taylor High School football, the team was called Drake's Ducks. After Drake resigned and moved from Taylor, the "Duck" remained and to this day, the "Duck" has been the team mascot."  - Coach T.H. Johnson.
